Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)

Acupuncture for the third age

Damay – Marimar (Damaymtc.com) Graduate in Traditional Chinese Medicine - Acupuncture, Moxibustion and Postgraduate in Chinese Pharmacopoeia

Acupuncture for the third age The World Health Organisation has reported many benefits for the health of acupuncture. In December 1979, they published a list of diseases and pathologies that acupuncture had demonstrated it was efficient for. Often, as years go by, a few ailments start to appear. Many of those pathologies are directly linked to ageing, it is normal to have backache because of dehydration or the wearing away of the discs in the spine.

It is also very common for our knees to ache because of joint wear and tear... and we could keep on quoting many of those. We can treat all those pathologies that appear by carrying out preventive treatments that will avoid or slow down the progress of many of them and maintain the health of elderly people by boosting their immune system. One of the greatest problems is Chronic Pain.

Like Rheumatoid arthritis for example. With acupuncture, we can treat the pain caused by osteoarthritis, sciatica, lumbalgia, etc... by inserting needles locally and in other parts of the body in order to activate energy flow and therefore relieve the pain caused by those ailments. The results can be improved again by adding Chinese Phytotherapy. To be continued...
